San Diego is located in the southwest corner of California, just north of the Mexican border. The city has belonged to the Spanish colony in America and after that to Mexico. In 1848 it became a part of the USA. Spanish is the second most common language. The city is known for two of the world's most famous zoos: San Diego Zoo and San Diego Wild Animal Park. In north San Diego the theme park Sea World is situated. The city has a dry mediterranean climate and has a lot of Mexico. In the old quarter of the city, Old Town, you can see some of the city's oldest buildings in Spanish style from the 19th century. The Gaslamp Quarter is a popular area with many restaurants and cafes. The Pride festival is one of the city's biggest events.
