The port is one of the most important in the Baltic Sea region. Daily ferries sail here from for example Norway and Sweden. Kiel is also characterised by sailing ans is one of the big sailing centres in the world. The best shopping address is shopping cente Sophienhof with new passage Kleiner Herzog. In the old town there are cosy cafes, bars and restaurants.
