Leipzig is the largest city in Saxony, Germany, and is situated 190 kilometres southwest of Berlin. In 1813 the Battle of Leipzig took place here when Austria, Prussia and Russia defeated France and the allied under the leadership of Napoleon. During the time of East Germania Leipzig became one of the most important cities in the country. Leipzig is since long back an important trade fair city and kept this status even during the time in East Germany. One of the biggest trade fair organised here is the well known book fair Leipziger Buchmesse. Leipzig is a city full of sights, many famous buildings from the 18th century. Every year several music festivals are arranged here.
