Pattaya, a little fishing village that has grown to a world class tourist resort, is located two hours by bus from Bangkok. During the Vietnam war Pattaya was used as an R&R base and an entertainment industry grew that gave Pattaya (and Thailand) a reputation they have worked hard on improving. Pattaya has the two most famous kathoey (transvestite) shows in Thailand. In Alcazar and Tiffany’s you can yourself observe the claim that ”the most beautiful women in Thailand are men”. On TV each year the International kathoey beauty contest Miss Tiffany Universe, attracts as much attention as the Eurovision Song Contest in Europe. The gay bars in Pattaya are split between Jomtien Beach, Sunee Plaze and Boyz Town. It is easy and cheap to get around with the ”Baht Buses”
