It was Eric of Pomerania that gave fishing village Södra Säby city rights in 1451. He also gave the city its new name, Landskrona. Until year 1600 the then Danish town continued to grow. However, located in a war zone between Sweden and Denmark, the development stagnated. After the peace in Roskilde in 1658 Landskrona became Swedish. During a visit to the city you should see Landskrona Castle and visit Landskrona museum. From here you can take a boat t0 island Ven and 10 kilometres north of Landskrona you find beautiful natural area Hilleshögs dalar. In Landskrona Selma Lagerlöf wrote her debut novel Gösta Berling´s Saga.
