Patong is the only beach with an active gay scene. Expect to pay a lot of your holiday money on Tuk Tuk taxis if you want to visit the gay area at night unless you are actually staying close to the Paradise Complex. The gay beach is near the ”beach rescue tower” and you get there by going by the Immigration office from Beach Rd. Gay life is centered around Paradise Complex, which has over 20 gay bars and clubs. For example, here you will find Svenska Connect with rooms, bars and restaurant as well as an internet bar. Dance the night away at The Boat Bar and Kiss Club, two of the most popular places with great stage shows, new ones every night, starting at midnight. Every Saturday, since 1999, Connect has arranged a ”Gay Outing”, a day time tour to an island for sunbathing, swimming and snorkeling, with many nationalities going along for the ride. The beach area of Patong now boasts a huge shopping center that can rival anything in Bangkok.
