Dresden is situated in southeast Germany and is the capital of Saxony. Dresden is located on both sides on river Elbe, mostly in the Dresden-Elbe river valley. With its beautiful locatiuon and mild climate by the shores of Elbe, its baroque architecture, world famous museums and art collections, Dresden has been called "Elbflorenz" (Florence by Elbe). Dresden is considered one of Europe's greenest cities. It's an old baroque city with numerous beautiful old buildings. However, most of them are newly constructed due to the destruction during World War II, when the whole city centre was destroyed. Frauenkirche is a symbol for the restoration, where even the old brick work has been reused. Along the river there are many cafes and restaurants, where you can enjoy a tasty meal with proper German beer, such as local Radeberger Pilsner. Wine is also made here.
